Job summary

Cape Fear Community College is seeking a Veterinary Assistant instructor to teach inmates in a correctional setting. The role involves delivering classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction, developing and updating curriculum, and preparing educational materials for on-ground coursework.

The instructor will create tests, grade student performance, advise students, and participate in program evaluation and curriculum updates.

Qualifications

• Ability to design and deliver veterinary assistant curriculum
• Knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA/Right to Know regulations
• Experience in creating tests, rubrics, and student assessments
• Familiarity with academic program administration and record keeping
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience teaching in a veterinary setting is preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to Vet Assistant students
• Develop lesson plans and schedule activities; create supplemental materials
• Develop and administer tests to evaluate student performance
• Demonstrate equipment and laboratory techniques
• Create hands-on lab assignments for student learning
• Ensure instruction aligns with program coordinator guidance and CFCC policies
• Advise and tutor students as needed and participate in curriculum improvement
• Attend faculty meetings and maintain student attendance records
• Maintain relevant program records and stay current with field developments
• Support staff development and college committees as needed
