Job summary

Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care in Durham, NC is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The role involves hands-on patient care, collaboration with veterinarians and technicians, and ongoing opportunities for growth in a AAHA-accredited, community-focused hospital.

We operate seven days a week with rotating weekend shifts and offer coaching, training, and leadership development as part of our supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting.
• Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes.
• Strong communication and client service skills.
• Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stay active during shifts.
• Flexibility to work rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

• Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats during exams and treatments.
• Supporting veterinarians and technicians with patient care and medical procedures.
• Collecting samples and performing in-house laboratory diagnostics.
• Taking radiographs as directed.
• Preparing exam rooms, treatment spaces, and equipment.
• Administering medications as directed by the veterinary team.
• Monitoring hospitalized patients and maintaining comfort.
• Communicating with clients about medications, treatments, and preventive care.
• Maintaining accurate medical records and patient information.
• Assisting with pharmacy tasks, inventory, and general hospital organization.
