Job summary

Petrosmith is seeking experienced Vessel and Piping Welders for its fabrication shop, focusing on pressure vessels used in the oilfield industry. Candidates must pass 6G or 3G tests and interpret complex drawings, while working with carbon steel and a suite of fit-up and welding tools.

Responsibilities include fabricating to shop procedures, welding to specifications, and lifting components safely with cranes. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered plus competitive benefits and time off.

Qualifications

• Proficient in basic math, including fractions and decimals.
• Able to read tape measures and rulers to 1/16 inch.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Experience reading manufacturing sequences in vessel fabrication.
• Capable of using welding, grinding and fitting tools.
• Must pass 6G or 3G welding test.
• Pressure vessel shop fabrication experience required.
• Able to lift materials up to 50 pounds.
• Punctuality to arrive on time.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications.
• Weld carbon steel components using welding procedures.
• Fit ANSI flanges to pipe, forged flanges to shells and profile nozzles to match shells.
• Lay out nozzles and other sub-assembly locations in shell components.
• Burn and grind nozzle cutouts in shell to meet tolerances.
• Use flame cutting torch, carbon arc gouging, plasma arc, grinders and other tools.
• Operate overhead and jib cranes for moving components safely.
• Complete jobs per standard shop procedures.
• Conform to quality and safety practices.
• Collaborate with others to determine best solutions.
• Other duties as assigned.
