Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services seeks a Vessel Fitter to lay out, position, and fit structural steel and pressure vessel components per drawings and specs. You will support fabrication of tanks and heavy equipment in a shop or field setting.

The role requires reading detailed drawings, rigging and layout experience, and adherence to ASME Section VIII standards. Safety gear, teamwork, and ability to work in a heavy industrial environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret detailed fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
• Experience in heavy steel fabrication or vessel fitting is required.
• Strong attention to detail and precision in layout and alignment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication blueprints, and vessel schematics.
• Lay out and mark reference points for plates, shells, heads, nozzles, manways, and other attachments.
• Fit and align large vessel components using tools and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces for welding, including grinding, beveling, and cleaning metal components.
• Ensure all dimensions and tolerances comply with ASME, API, or client specifications.
• Work with welders to ensure proper fit-up before welding.
• Perform visual inspections for alignment and quality.
