Description

Background check, US Citizenship, secret clearance, and drug screening are requirements of this position.

The McHenry Management Group (TMMG) is seeking an experienced Vessel Construction Management (VCM) Test Analyst to support the Landing Ship Medium (LSM) Program. Working as part of the Vessel Construction Management Team, the VCM Test Analyst serves as the owner's independent technical representative responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on shipyard Test & Evaluation (T&E) activities throughout vessel construction.

Unlike traditional shipyard test engineers who execute production testing, the VCM Test Analyst provides independent oversight of the shipyard's testing program. The position evaluates test planning, monitors system completion, assesses test readiness, reviews Phase 6 and Phase 7 test procedures, identifies technical and schedule risks, tracks deficiencies, and provides objective assessments of testing progress to the VCM leadership team.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, ABS, OEM representatives, and shipyard Test & Trials personnel, the VCM Test Analyst helps ensure each vessel is constructed, tested, documented, and delivered in accordance with the overall Program Test & Evaluation Strategy while supporting consistent testing practices across all participating shipyards.

Requirements
  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience supporting naval shipbuilding, commercial shipbuilding, ship repair, marine engineering, industrial construction, or commissioning activities.
  • Minimum five (5) years supporting shipboard testing, system completion, commissioning, trials, or Test & Evaluation activities.
  • Experience reviewing technical procedures, engineering drawings, specifications, and shipboard testing documentation.
  • Strong understanding of shipboard mechanical, electrical, auxiliary, piping, HVAC, propulsion, and integrated ship systems.
  • Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Tests, Dock Trials, Harbor Acceptance Trials, Builder's Trials, Acceptance Trials, or similar testing programs.
Physical Job Requirements
  • The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Ability to work full-time within an active shipyard environment supporting vessel construction and testing activities.
  • Ability to safely board vessels under construction, climb ladders, traverse multiple decks, enter machinery spaces, and access confined or restricted work areas while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and move throughout shipyard facilities for extended periods during inspections, testing activities, and vessel trials.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and transport equipment, computers, drawings, and reference materials weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments subject to varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, weather conditions, moving equipment, and waterfront operations.
  • Ability to support extended work hours during critical testing events, vessel trials, and delivery milestones when required.
Education/Certification Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Equivalent military or commercial shipbuilding experience may be substituted for formal education.
