Job summary

Fairmount Behavioral Health System invites applications for a Fulltime Verbal Therapist. The role focuses on assessing patients’ leisure activities and delivering age-appropriate therapy groups, with emphasis on safety planning and measurable behavioral goals in line with our therapeutic philosophy.

Flexibility to work across units serving children, adolescents, and adults is required, ensuring comprehensive care on a peaceful, wooded campus near Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Creative arts, Social work or related clinical field
  • One year prior experience in Behavioral health field working with people in recovery from mental health disorders preferred
  • PA professional license preferred but not required; licensure/certification in allied health or therapy/counseling preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ leisure and recreational activities.
  • Provide age- and developmentally appropriate therapy groups using therapy modalities.
  • Help patients develop safety/crisis plans.
  • Establish behavioral treatment goals aligned with Fairmount philosophy.
  • Demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units serving varied populations (children, adolescents, adults).

Located on a 27-acre wooded campus, Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a major regional resource for children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The spacious campus borders Fairmount Park in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. With one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, Fairmount is the provider of choice for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. We are currently seeking a Fulltime Verbal Therapist to join our team.

The Verbal Therapist is responsible for assessing patients’ leisure and recreational activities, providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups using a therapy modalities, helping patients develop safety/crisis plans, and establishing behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Fairmount Behavioral Health System.

The Verbal Therapist must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents, and adults.

  • Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Creative arts, Social worker or related clinical field
  • Experience: One (1) year prior experience in Behavioral health field working with people in recovery from mental health disorders preferred
