Job Description

Job Description

Venture Builder / Entrepreneurial Executive

Location: Northeast Ohio
Reports To: Founder / Managing Partner
Type: Full-Time

The Opportunity

We are looking for an exceptionally ambitious, entrepreneurial, and financially savvy individual to work directly with an accomplished entrepreneur who has founded, built, and grown multiple successful companies, including multi-million- and billion-dollar enterprises.

This is not a traditional corporate job.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to learn how businesses are built from the ground up and play a meaningful role in turning ideas into real companies.

The right person will work directly with the founder across new business ideas, investments, acquisitions, and operating companies. You will help take an idea from a conversation on a whiteboard to a business plan, from a business plan to execution, and ultimately to a successful operating company.

Think of this position as an entrepreneurial incubator role. You will be exposed to virtually every aspect of building a business and will be expected to take ownership of projects and make things happen.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will evolve as opportunities develop, but may include:

  • Take business concepts and turn them into detailed business plans and actionable strategies.
  • Build financial models, budgets, forecasts, and investment analyses.
  • Research industries, markets, competitors, customers, and potential opportunities.
  • Evaluate new business ideas, investments, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies and revenue models.
  • Take ownership of projects from concept through execution.
  • Help recruit, interview, and hire employees as new businesses are developed.
  • Identify and secure office, warehouse, retail, or other operating locations.
  • Work with attorneys, accountants, bankers, brokers, consultants, vendors, and other outside professionals.
  • Develop relationships with potential customers, partners, investors, and business contacts.
  • Help establish operating processes and systems for new businesses.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Identify problems before they become problems and figure out solutions.
  • Conduct whatever research or analysis is necessary to move an opportunity forward.
  • Work independently when given an objective and determine the best way to accomplish it.
  • Provide regular updates to the founder on progress, challenges, opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Potentially help manage and operate businesses after launch.
Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is hungry.

Someone who wants to make a lot of money—but understands that significant financial success comes from creating value, taking responsibility, and working extremely hard.

You should be someone who:

  • Has a strong financial/business background.
  • Is highly intelligent, analytical, and naturally curious.
  • Thinks like an entrepreneur rather than an employee.
  • Has tremendous energy and a strong work ethic.
  • Is competitive and motivated to succeed.
  • Is comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Can take an idea and figure out what needs to happen next.
  • Don’t need to be told what to do every five minutes.
  • Is comfortable working independently.
  • Is willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is necessary to move a project forward.
  • Can move quickly without sacrificing good judgment.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is comfortable talking to CEOs, executives, employees, vendors, and professionals.
  • Can build relationships and earn people’s trust.
  • Is extremely organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Has high integrity and understands the importance of confidentiality.
  • Wants responsibility—not simply a title.
The Most Important Characteristic

We are looking for someone who sees a problem and says, “I’ll figure it out.”

You may be asked to build a financial model in the morning, research a new market in the afternoon, tour a warehouse the next day, and help interview a potential employee later that week.

There will not always be a playbook.

You will be expected to create the playbook.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related field.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Excellent Excel/financial modeling abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Preferred:

  • Investment banking, private equity, venture capital, consulting, corporate development, or entrepreneurial experience.
  • Experience building financial models and business plans.
  • Experience evaluating investments or acquisitions.
  • Startup or operating experience.
  • Experience working directly with senior executives or business owners.
Compensation

We are looking for someone with significant long-term earning potential.

Compensation will include a competitive base salary with meaningful performance-based upside tied to the value the individual creates.

For the right person, there may also be opportunities for profit participation, equity, or other economic participation in businesses or ventures they help develop.

The objective is simple:

If you help create significant value, you should have the opportunity to participate in that value.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

Most young professionals spend years working in one narrow area of a large organization.

In this role, you will have a front-row seat to how businesses are actually created, financed, launched, staffed, operated, and grown.

You will work directly with an entrepreneur who has spent decades building companies and will be exposed to real decisions involving capital, people, strategy, operations, investments, acquisitions, and growth.

If you are ambitious, this role can become much bigger than the position you were originally hired for.

We are looking for someone who wants to build something—not someone who is simply looking for a job.
