Job summary

AdaptHealth in New York seeks a Respiratory Therapist – Ventilator Support to deliver specialized respiratory care to ventilator-dependent patients in home and alternative care settings. You will integrate hands-on patient care with education and collaboration with physicians to ensure safe outcomes outside the hospital.

The role requires vent management expertise, strong assessment skills, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program.
• One (1) year of clinical experience with ventilator exposure.
• Valid and unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in all states serviced by the branch.
• CPR certification.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of respiratory equipment, ventilators, HME products, and related payer and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform clinical assessments and reassessments, including review of ventilator patient records, compliance data, and care plans; communicate findings and recommendations to physicians and referral sources.
• Participate in discharge planning and execution for highly technical and ventilator dependent patients, ensuring smooth transitions to the home setting.
• Demonstrate and instruct patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on ventilator units, supplies, and proper equipment use.
• Provide clinical follow up with physicians and referral sources regarding patient status and tolerance of therapy.
