The Federal Group USA | Bingham Farms, MI | Full-Time | Global Supplier Interface
Is this you?
- Do you thrive leading suppliers from first article to steady-state production?
- Have you chased PPAPs, audited foundries/machine shops, and coached customers through print clean-up?
- Want the technical challenge without the grind of a single automotive program?
The opportunity
Own metal component programs across an international supplier network. This is a supplier-facing engineering role—your impact is felt in factories and customer design rooms, not on a plant floor. You’ll collaborate with our CEO and COO, drive vendor performance, and make decisions that move fast.
Your impact
- Lead cross-functional execution from samples through production for castings, forgings, cold headed, and machined parts
- Guide customers on manufacturing processes, materials, and finishes to achieve cost, quality, and lead-time targets
- Assess feasibility and readiness; verify prints (tolerances/specs/revisions/materials) and obtain customer approvals when updates are required
- Validate RFQs and quotes technically; resolve supplier questions during quoting
- Manage day-to-day supplier performance; align vendor capability with program needs in partnership with Sourcing
- Conduct international factory visits and audits with the Sourcing team
- Partner with Quality/SQE on nonconformances, 8D/corrective actions, supplier inspection data, and in-process/incoming checks
- Channel factory deviations and technical updates to Sales for customer action
- Run client and vendor kickoffs; communicate schedules, risks, and mitigations
- Provide clear status to stakeholders; escape risk directly to the COO/CEO
What we’re looking for
- Hands‑on metals background—you recognize good parts, common defects, and process pitfalls
- Experience in supplier quality, sourcing/program launch, or manufacturing engineering with strong vendor interaction
- Mastery of PPAP, APQP, 8D, corrective actions, GD&T, and blueprint reading
- Strong project coordination in dynamic environments
- Comfort with customers and international suppliers; willingness to travel globally
- Hindi language ability is a significant plus
- B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
