Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC is seeking a Vending Service Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair micro-market kiosks and vending equipment across the Twin Cities metro area.

You will drive a company-provided vehicle, respond to service calls, perform preventive maintenance, and deliver exceptional customer support. A valid driver's license is required, with a day shift and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Requires EPA Universal or Type I certification for refrigeration systems.
• Familiarity with DEX/MDB protocols and cashless payment hardware.
• Experience with digital work-order software or mobile field management tools.
• Background in vending, coffee, beverage dispensing, or similar equipment repair.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues on vending equipment and micro-market kiosks.
• Respond to service calls, troubleshoot root causes, and replace worn/defective parts.
• Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventative maintenance for high equipment functionality and sanitation.
• Serve as a polite, professional point of contact for clients and internal staff.

Vending Service Technician

Location: Twin Cities Metro Area (Field-Based)

Territory Focus: North of I-394 in Minneapolis/West Metro, and East of I-94 in St. Paul

Preferred Residence: Must live within the Twin Cities Metro area for efficient route coverage

Position Type: Full-Time | Monday - Friday (7:00 AM Start | Day Shift) + On-Call Rotation

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 / year (Dependent on Experience)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Vending Service Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair micro-market kiosks, coolers, and automated vending equipment (food, snack, beverage, and coffee machines) across the Twin Cities metro area.

In this mobile, field-based role, you will drive a company-provided vehicle to client sites to respond to service calls, perform routine preventive maintenance, and deliver exceptional customer support.

Responsibilities:

• Equipment Repair & Maintenance: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues on vending equipment, coffee brewers, and micro-market kiosks.
• Service Response: Promptly respond to dispatched service calls, troubleshoot root causes (from coin jams to cashless payment issues), and replace worn or defective parts.
• Preventative Care: Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventative maintenance to ensure high equipment functionality and sanitation.
• Customer Service & Communication: Serve as a polite and professional point of contact for clients, updating them and internal staff on equipment status.
• Vehicle & Inventory Management: Keep the company vehicle clean, well-maintained, and safely operated while maintaining basic activity logs and records.
• On-Call Rotation: Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation for emergency evening and weekend service requests.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Skills:

• EPA Universal or Type I certification (for refrigeration systems).
• Familiarity with DEX/MDB protocols, cashless payment hardware, and micro-market software platforms.
• Prior experience using digital work-order software or mobile field management tools.
• Background in commercial coffee, beverage dispensing, or ice machine repair.

Qualifications:

• Background in equipment repair required; prior experience repairing vending, coffee, or commercial food service appliances preferred.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and basic refrigeration troubleshooting skills; proficient using hand and power tools.
• Age 21+ with a valid Class D driver's license and a clean driving record for the last 5 years (required for company vehicle insurance).
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, credit check (due to handling cash equipment), and a DOT physical exam.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently, push/pull loads over 100 lbs., maneuver equipment up/down stairs with a hand truck, and bend, stoop, or climb regularly throughout the day.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
