Lab Technician
What We Will Expect From You
The Lab Technician is responsible for routine laboratory testing of process samples, environmental samples, and final product tank certification samples. They report changes in process from a laboratory perspective, maintain a close working relationship with operations staff, follow laboratory techniques to ensure consistent and repeatable data, and implement and maintain specialized instrumentation in the lab and in the field.
Requirements
- Previous laboratory experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work a modified schedule at the Nevada, Iowa site.
- Availability for emergency calls when needed.
- Previous ethanol or manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Experience with ASTM, QA/QC & good Lab Practices programs preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory tests of production and environmental samples to ensure product quality and environmental discharge levels.
- Conduct daily tests in line with standard operating procedures to support plant operations.
- Enter laboratory test data into spreadsheets and generate reports as required.
- Interpret laboratory data and explain its implications for plant operations.
- Communicate laboratory analyses to plant personnel.
- Maintain and properly use all lab equipment, including calibrations and cross validations.
- Work independently on routine duties while consulting supervisor on problems, rejections, or unusual results.
- Keep the work area clean and free from safety and environmental hazards.
- Participate in development, implementation, and revision of the plant quality program.
- Prepare chemical solutions for laboratory use.
- Adhere to all GLP, cGMP, TTB, EPA, OSHA, and employer standards and guidelines.
- Assist with shipment of samples to ensure compliance with DOT, TTB, or other governmental regulations.
- Support the Safety and Environmental Department as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
