We want adaptable candidates who are ready to serve a large and diverse population in Galveston County.**YOUR DUTIES**As a Galveston County Assistant District Attorney, Vehicular Section Chief, you will represent the State of Texas and the citizens of Galveston County in criminal proceedings in the District and County Courts of the County. On a daily basis, you will be expected to:* Work as a team player in a collaborative environment* Supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate prosecutor(s)* Interact and consult with Law Enforcement Officers at various stages from a suspect’s arrest through the disposition of the case* Interview and assist victims and witnesses of crime through all stages of a case* Communicate and negotiate effectively and professionally with the defense bar* Evaluate cases to determine what outcome is necessary to achieve justice, which may include a plea agreement, diversion, dismissal, or trial* Maintain Felony docket of criminal cases involving vehicular crimes, including Intoxication Manslaughter and Assault, Failure to Stop and Render Aid, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon* Prepare cases for contested matters, including jury trials* Present evidence and advocate to a jury or trier of fact* Grow professionally as an attorney from in-house and formal training, mentoring from supervisors and other experienced attorneys, and the experience you will develop as a prosecutor from the contested hearings and trials you will litigate.**OUR COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**The salary for a Vehicular Section Chief-level prosecutor starts at $135,000 based on experience level and assignment.
