Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Software Engineer to develop and execute an OTA readiness plan ensuring vehicle launch and OTA capabilities. You will own end-to-end OTA deployment, design dashboards, and coordinate with multiple teams for successful VeSCoM delivery.

You will work on OTA updates, vehicle connectivity, diagnostics, and network aspects, overseeing project timelines and integration efforts. The role supports a hybrid work model requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Two years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Two years of experience in OTA update and vehicle connectivity technologies and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • One year of experience in issue identification, in-vehicle test setup for OTA execution, and log retrieval/analysis.

  • Design dashboards to monitor delivery status by optimizing SQL in relational and big data platforms.
  • Own end-to-end OTA deployment with cross-functional coordination (SW VSE, SIT, PQM, CRT, PEMs).
  • Understand core strategies, UX, and process requirements for OTA programming.

Job Description

Develop and execute OTA Readiness Plan to ensure vehicle launch and OTA capabilities prior vehicle launch. Understand implementation project timelines and vehicle program rollout timing. Develop, design, and create the different payloads/campaigns to deliver a VeSCoM and monitor the performance. Design and create dashboards to monitor the delivery status by optimizing complicated SQL statements in relational database and big data platform. Drive resolution of all issues surfaced during development process that lack a natural owner or require multi-functional coordination. End to End ownership of OTA deployment method by coordinating with SW VSE, SIT, PQM, CRT, PEMs to ensure a successful delivery of a VeSCoM for Capture Test Fleet and Customers. Understand core strategies, feature requirements, UX requirements and operational process requirements for OTA programming. Own one of more platform capabilities including OTA refresh, Diagnostics, Network, and Communications. Project management and hands on test and integration. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study and two (2) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, or related occupation. Two (2) years of experience in the following: OTA update and vehicle connectivity technologies; and Troubleshooting skills and improvement methodologies. One (1) year of experience in the following: Issue identification, support and resolution; In vehicle test setup and configuration for OTA execution; Retrieval and analysis of CGM/TCP/CAN logs; Operational process requirement including Back Office processes for connected vehicle services; Make issues and OTA impacts to specific modules and features; and Problem-solving skills to triage and resolve ambiguity issues that frequently surface during Over-The-Air update.
