Job summary

Chevy of Avon in Avon, IN is seeking a skilled automotive service technician to perform timely repairs, document work, and ensure a superior customer experience. You will diagnose, repair, and test vehicles, communicate with service staff, and follow safety protocols.

Requirements include high school diploma or equivalent, automotive tech training preferred, 5+ years’ mechanical experience, dealership experience preferred, and ASE certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent is minimally required.
• Automotive Technical School experience is preferred.
• 5+ years of mechanical experience is preferred.
• Automotive dealership experience is preferred.
• ASE certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and respond to service repair orders per company standards.
• Discuss any special conditions or problems.
• Perform the work outlined on the repair order with speed, thoroughness, and safety to assure the vehicle is correctly and fully serviced the first time.
• Inspect the vehicle for additional service repair work that may be needed and obtain parts pricing as needed.
• Document the repairs made to correct the issues on the repair order.
• Communicate with management and staff on any additional time or assistance needed to complete repairs.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers’ performance specifications.
• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined.
• Confer with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and discuss work to be performed.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area.
• Repair or replace parts as appropriate.
• Install and/or repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and wipers.
