Job summary

Rural Metro Fire Department is hiring a Vehicle Service Technician for a full-time role focused on keeping ambulances serviced, safe, and ready for response. You will perform preventive maintenance, inventory checks, and documentation to ensure high-quality transportation services for patients and crews.

The position requires a state driver’s license and a clean driving record, with a preference for candidates with healthcare experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure ambulances are fully stocked, safely maintained and ready to provide transportation services.
  • Maintain a safe and clean vehicle environment for crew and patients.
  • Perform daily vehicle inventory checks and update the equipment tracking log; request replacements as needed.
  • Run regular mechanical checks (oil, washer fluid, batteries) and report issues to Fleet Manager.
  • Document information clearly, follow company policies and information security standards; coordinate with other departments and VSTs.
  • Communicate effectively to facilitate coordination between crews and other vehicle service technicians; work professionally with allied health and public safety personnel.

FULL-TIME Scheduling Requirements:

6am-6pm (California Rotation)

We’re hiring a Vehicle Service Technician (VST) responsible for ensuring our ambulances are effectively serviced, safe and ready for response. This is a key role to help our team maintain and deliver timely and high-quality transportation services, care and customer service to patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Vehicle Service Technicians will ensure the ambulances are fully stocked, safely maintenance and ready to provide transportation services.
  • Take pride in maintaining a safe and clean vehicle environment for the crew and the patients.
  • Manage daily vehicle inventory checks to ensure stock of supplies and equipment, regularly update the equipment tracking log and place replacement requests when necessary.
  • Run regular mechanical checks including oil, washer fluid and batteries, and report any vehicle issues to the Fleet Manager as needed.
  • Clearly document information as required and adhere to company policies and procedures while complying with the company’s information security standards.
  • Use appropriate communication methods to help facilitate coordination of efforts between departments crews and other vehicle service techs.
  • Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow VSTs and operations team.
MinimumRequired Qualifications:
  • State Driver’s License
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Driving record in compliance with company policy
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some work experience, preferably in healthcare
