Job summary

Smithfield Foods is hiring a Sanitation Professional to wash and sanitize trucks and trailers and clean vehicle interiors and exteriors as needed. You will assist the Sanitation Lead with equipment maintenance and follow IPS safety standards.

Flexibility and teamwork are essential as plans change and shifts may include weekends or evenings. This role requires the ability to perform hard physical labor, operate yard equipment, and comply with all environmental and safety regulations while

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to do hard physical labor.
• Strong commitment to teamwork.
• Ability to follow instructions in standardized situations.
• Must be able to work an average 60 hour week with possible weekend/evening/holiday shifts.
• On-call in emergency situations including outages or shortages.
• Operate a tractor trailer inside the yard with back-up maneuvers.
• Work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
• Be respectful, approachable and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Washes and sanitizes trucks and trailers.
• Cleans interiors and exteriors of cars and pickup trucks when required.
• Assists Sanitation Lead in maintaining washing equipment.
• Follows safety requirements of IPS and company policies.
• Adapts to management directions and changes in plans.
• Maintains daily department work and teamwork to meet goals.
• Assists with facility and equipment maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with environmental, biosecurity and safety laws.
• Reports environmental issues to supervisor; participates in grounds and facility upkeep as needed.
• Reads and understands the company emergency notification process for the site.
