Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks an engineering design manager to lead its Vehicle Packaging Team within the Structures Engineering Design department.

You will coordinate full-vehicle development across design studios and engineering, aligning with program vision and business plans to meet customer objectives. You will develop goals for direct reports, assign tasks, manage budgets, and serve as SME in vehicle layout and packaging.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 8–12 years in automotive vehicle design and development.
• 3+ years managing a multi-functional engineering team.
• Expert in vehicle packaging and resolving space and location concerns.
• Experience coordinating with design studios.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5.
• Experience using tools to create and modify 2D/3D drawings.
• Strong communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong leadership and time management abilities.

Vehicle Packaging Manager

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks an engineering design manager to lead its diverse, growing Vehicle Packaging Team of the Structures Engineering Design (SED) Department. The Vehicle Packaging Manager would coordinate full-vehicle development efforts across design studio and engineering design teams, aligning efforts with the program vision, strategy, and business plan to meet internal and external customer objectives.

What You Will Do:

• Develop project work plans and budget in support of SED's vision
• Develop goals and objectives for all direct reports
• Assign tasks and projects to support the related team's work plan
• Serve as a subject-matter expert in overall vehicle layout and packaging requirements
• Ensure team support of current and future product development for occupant packaging, vehicle layouts, and overall packaging development
• Manage and direct engineers in daily activities for work projects relating to team activities in support of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles
• Support R&D activities for future product development and special projects
• Manage packaging issues by creating, assigning, and tracking, while coordinating regular packaging review meetings with key stakeholders until issue resolution
• Identify interference conditions and feasibility challenges, and develop solutions to address said conditions and challenges
• Leverage kinematic models to generate clearance envelopes for accurate spatial planning
• Perform benchmarking analysis and maintain a database of dimensional benchmarks
• Assist in the development of general layout drawings and master sections
• Analyze surfaces, working closely with designers to ensure production feasibility and alignment with vehicle systems
• Collaborate across functional teams, including manufacturing, to ensure the feasibility of assembly processes
• Present findings and updates for upper management to review
• Design and develop BIW designs for minor and major change programs
• Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally

What You Will Bring to the Role:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
• 8-12 years in automotive vehicle design and development with increasing levels of project and team management
• 3+ years managing a multi-functional engineering team
• Expert in vehicle packaging and resolving space and location concerns between multiple engineering teams
• Significant experience and expertise in coordinating with design studios
• Experience with multiple propulsion systems and their supporting architectures
• Experience and expertise in automotive areas, such as structures, closures, and CAE
• Proficiency in CATIA V5
• Experience using engineering tools to create and modify 2D and 3D drawings
• Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Adept in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
• An ability to prepare reports/spreadsheets (when needed) to support project-related work
• Excellent time management, self-management, project management, and organization skills
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, presentation, and leadership skills
• Flexibility with program and process changes. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis may make late changes to satisfy customer needs.
