Job summary

Allina Health Emergency Medical Services in St Paul is seeking an experienced Vehicle Mechanic for full-time day shift. The role maintains and repairs EMS fleet vehicles and supports building maintenance, ensuring safe operation of critical equipment and rapid readiness for patient transport.

The ideal candidate has an automotive degree or diploma, 1 year of diagnostic/repair experience, and a valid driver’s license. ASE certification is preferred; lifting up to 100 lbs is required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.
• Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid license within 60 days of employment.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) within 2 years of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient vehicle operation and repair.
• Diagnoses and repairs vehicle's mechanical problems as they occur.
• Prioritizes all vehicle repairs based on operational needs and length of repair time needed.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles according to maintenance schedule.
• Performs light body work.
• Prepares new vehicles for use.
• Repairs stretchers, stretcher holders, backboards, wheelchairs, wheelchair lifts, portable suction, nitrous unit, portable O2, lights, and sirens.
• Assists with general shop maintenance and grounds keeping.
• Performs basic electrical, plumbing, door lock, and building repair.
• Orders vehicle parts.
• Completes maintenance records and work orders.
• Tracks repair hours, and records parts used.
