Job summary

Frontier Communications Corporation in Lancaster, CA is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repair of engines, derricks, transmissions, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems on fleet equipment. You will document service records and support safety and compliance programs.

The position requires a valid California CDL and Smog Check Certification, shifts may include day, swing or night and occasional weekends, with a wage range of $25.09 to $48.58 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must pass standard tests for the position according to company policy.
• May be required to obtain a valid unrestricted California Commercial Driver's License (CDL) depending on vehicle driven.
• Must possess a valid Smog Check Mechanic's Certificate at time of appointment.
• Shift is primarily a "B" shift.
• Must have color perception and ability to distinguish audible tones.

• Perform preventive maintenance checks and service tasks such as tires, batteries, lubrication, brakes, and fluids.
• Maintain service records for automotive equipment.
• Overhaul transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, starters, generators, and alternators.
• May perform additional duties as assigned by the Company.

Summary:

Perform maintenance and repair of internal combustion engines, derricks, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, including 12 volt DC, 110 and 220 volt AC, ignition and fuel systems, hydraulic systems, steering and running gear.

General Duties:

• Perform preventative maintenance checks.


• Perform maintenance work, servicing, or replacing tires, batteries, lubricating chassis, brakes, oil, drive belts, hoses, etc.


• Maintain automotive equipment service records.


• Overhaul of transmissions, differentials, and hydraulic systems.


• Overhaul of starters, generators and alternators.


• May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.

Basic Qualifications:

• Tests - Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.


• May be required to attain a valid unrestricted California Commercial Driver's License, with any special certification needed (i.e., Special Construction Equipment Certificate, Radioactive Materials Certificate, Hazardous Materials/Waste Certificate, Tank Combination/Bulk Liquid Load Certificate), depending on the type of vehicle driven or load carried. If required at the assigned job site, must demonstrate proficiency in the operation of a vehicle equipped with standard (manual shift) transmission.


• Must possess a valid License Smog Check Mechanic's Certificate at the time of appointment. License must be kept current.*


• This is primarily a \"B\" shift job.


• Must possess the ability to perceive difference in colors.


• Must possess the ability to distinguish audible tones/levels.

Additional Information:

• May be required to work day, swing, or night shift. Normal workweek is Monday-Friday, however there may be an occasional need to work weekends.


• *PLEASE NOTE: Once effective, candidate will be given up to 180 days to obtain smog license.
