Position: Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic (Gulfport, MS)

Scope of Work

This position supports the MS Air National Guard in Gulfport, MS. Candidates must obtain clearance to access the airbase, pass a drug test and background check, and satisfy the Government’s background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose component failure.
• Determine the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment.
• Replace parts that are worn and damaged.
• Test for leaks and blockage using test and flow testers.

Requirements

• Skill in using and interpreting results of a wide range of diagnostic and test equipment, i.e., engine analyzers, dynamometers, exhaust analyzers, vacuum and fuel pump testers, injector testers, ignition tuners, tachometers, ammeters, and ohmmeters.
• Ability to use technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides to make repairs and modifications.
• Familiarity with diagnostic equipment is preferable.
• A civilian driver’s license is required.
• Must be physically able to operate the unit’s small forklifts and become certified.
• Working knowledge of the following computer software: Microsoft Office Suite, Defense Property Accounting System (DPAS) program.
• Ability to manually lift equipment and components weighing 20 to 60 pounds; occasionally manually lift items weighing 75 pounds and, with assistance or lifting devices, over 100 pounds.
