Job summary

CarolinaPower is seeking a Specialist I, VDC to create accurate electrical models, drawings, and documents using VDC software. This role reviews project docs, specs, and submittals to extract critical construction information and coordinates with internal teams, field staff, and trade partners to translate design intent into precise digital layouts.

Under supervision, you will support field installation through documentation, layout drawings, and as-built models, contributing to prefabrication

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Associate degree in Architectural Technology or related field preferred.
• 0–2 years experience in VDC preferred.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, and BlueBeam helpful.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models of electrical components to support construction and prefabrication workflows under supervision.
• Coordinate models and drawings with VDC team, PMs, and field supervisors.
• Produce general installation drawings and prefabrication layouts aligned with project requirements.
• Assist with detailing tasks and project modeling.
• Support production of final installation and as-built models for field use.
• Produce 2D drawings for prefabrication, one-lines, device layouts, and as-builts.

Job description

The Specialist I, VDC supports construction and prefabrication efforts by producing accurate electrical models, drawings, and technical documents using VDC software. This role involves reviewing project documents, specifications, and submittals to extract critical construction information, while coordinating with internal teams, field staff, and external trade partners. Under supervision, the VDC Specialist helps translate design intent into precise digital layouts and supports field installation through documentation and layout drawings.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Create 3D models of electrical components to support construction and prefabrication workflows, under supervision
• Assist with the coordination of models and drawings based on project scope, collaborating with VDC team members, Project Managers, and field supervisors.
• General installation drawings and prefabrication layouts, ensuring alignment with project requirements
• Contribute to detailing tasks and project modeling
• Support the production of final installation and as-built models for field use

Drafting & Drawing Support

• Produce 2D drawings for prefabrication, one-lines, device layouts, and as-builts as required by the project
• Create point drawings to support layout and field accuracy
• Maintain file organization and update records of all drawings and project files per department standards

Project Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of project data, including drawings, logs, correspondence, and timelines
• Generate data sheets aligned with project requirements, detailing materials, components, and building specifications
• Assist with logging, tracking, and updating data points for internal documentation and reporting purposes

Project & Field Support

• Attend project coordination meetings with general contractors and other partners, with supervision, to understand project progress and identify design adjustments
• Visit job site as needed to support field layout efforts and confirm proper implementation of VDC plans
• Provide support to prefabrication efforts in the shop when required

Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination

• Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
• Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
• Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
• Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
• Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.

Qualifications And Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
• Associates degree in Architectural Technology or related construction degree (or construction experience) is preferred
• 0-2 years experience in VDC preferred
• Exposure to or experience working with Revit, AutoCAD, AutoDesk Suite, BIM 360, and BlueBeam

Physical Requirements

• Office environment requiring sitting and standing. Travel to various construction sites is essential, exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise, and the need to stand and walk.
