Job summary

Austin Commercial is seeking a VDC Engineer for our Phoenix, AZ projects to implement BIM/VDC processes and lead model administration and coordination across offices and field teams.

The role requires 3+ years in BIM/VDC on construction projects, strong Revit/Navisworks skills, and ability to train project staff while promoting BIM/VDC services externally. Join our ESOP company with strong benefits and a commitment to safety and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, or related AEC fields.
• 3+ years’ experience implementing BIM/VDC services & processes on construction projects
• Intermediate-Advanced understanding of Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Navisworks Manage
• Exposure to Assemble, Synchro 4D
• Exposure to Primavera P6, Microsoft Project

Responsibilities

• Functions as the BIM/VDC 'Model Administrator' on assigned projects.
• Implements Austin Commercial BIM/VDC processes on assigned projects
• Spends time at the jobsite implementing BIM/VDC field construction processes on assigned projects
• Supports BIM/VDC project staff training on assigned projects
• Markets BIM/VDC services internally and externally
• Presents BIM/VDC projects and services at industry related conferences and forums
• Stays current on what is being marketed/executed by our competition locally
• Creates models, including site logistics, structure, interior/exterior architecture, and MEP/FP systems as needed
• Validates model quality and accuracy
• Performs model revisions and manages model distribution
• Creates custom model components and families as needed
• Creates, revises, and maintains 4D schedules
• Develops and maintains BIM/VDC coordination schedules on assigned projects
• Manages and distributes BIM/VDC coordination files on assigned projects
• Leads and/or Manages the BIM/VDC coordination effort, identifying areas of conflict and leads conflict resolution
• Tracks and reports on BIM/VDC coordination progress and efficiency
• Creates and distributes coordination meeting minutes
• Assists in BIM/VDC shop and field use drawing production and review
• Creates dimensioned drawings from the model for field use as needed

The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Engineer will work in Austin’s Construction Technology Department assisting office and field staff with the implementation of BIM/ VDC processes and services. We are looking for a self-starter ready to embrace the technological challenges presented by our projects.
