The Weitz Company is seeking a VDC Engineer to join our Florida team to design, manage, and implement VDC systems using 3D/4D/5D modeling. The role supports streamlined workflows across preconstruction and field teams and involves developing models, renderings, and training materials.

Ideal candidates have internship experience in construction supporting VDC and familiarity with Autodesk tools. Excellent communication, problem solving, and initiative are required to drive continuous improvement

• Lean principles experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leverage 3D,4D,5D digital content to assist in VDC design, management, and implementation.
• Create streamlined workflows by collaborating with preconstruction and field teams.
• Assist with execution plans, quantity takeoffs, constructability coordination, and RFI visualization.
• Create 3D/4D models, renderings, and simulations for presentations and project work.
• Create and maintain training material with the learning and development team.
• Research, test, and assist with new software and hardware implementations.
• Identify continuous improvement areas to support company goals.
• Assist in creating and maintaining VDC standards and best practices.
• Compute metrics for management review.
• Assist with marketing and business development; promote VDC capabilities.
• Stay updated on latest software and technology.

The Weitz Company is hiring a VDC Engineer to join our Florida team! This role will be responsible for various functions on a construction project related to the design, management, and implementation of VDC systems including modeling and photography technologies. This exciting role streamlines workflows amongst project teams and enhances VDC utilization on assigned project(s).

What You’ll Do:

• Leverage 3D, 4D, and 5D digital content and assets to assist in the design, management, and implementation of VDC systems
• Create streamlined workflows throughout the duration of a project by collaborating with preconstruction and field operation teams
• Assist with execution plans, quantity takeoffs, constructability coordination, requests for information (RFI) visualization and schedule phasing capabilities, as requested
• Create 3D and 4D models, renderings, and simulations for presentations, project pursuits, preconstruction, and construction operation efforts
• Create and maintain training material alongside the learning and development team
• Research, test, and assist with the implementation of new software and hardware
• Support companywide goals and initiatives by identifying continuous improvement areas
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of VDC standards and best practices
• Compute metrics for management review
• Assist with marketing and business development initiatives; promote VDC capabilities
• Keep abreast of the latest software and technology

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience:

  • Previous internship experience in a construction role supporting VDC
  • LEAN principles experience is a plus

• Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement
  • Initiative and strong decision making capabilities
  • Excellent problem solving skills

• Technology:

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk software programs (Revit AutoCAD, Infraworks and Navisworks) and a general understanding of VDC software (Sketchup, Fuzor, Adobe Suite, Revizto), systems and hardware
• • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
