Electrical VDC/BIM Coordinator - Opportunity for Remote
About the role:
We are seeking a technically skilled Senior Electrical BIM Coordinator to join a leading Electrical construction team supporting the delivery of large scale, mission-critical facilities, Hospitals and other large scale commercial projects across the United States. This is a senior-level, predominantly remote role you will be the electrical BIM authority across multiple active projects, ensuring model quality, trade coordination, and clash resolution from design development through construction completion.
This role suits an experienced electrical BIM professional who has moved beyond individual model authoring and is ready to own coordination workflows across complex, fast-moving data center builds while working effectively in a distributed team environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and maintain federated electrical BIM models across a portfolio of active data center projects, ensuring model integrity, LOD compliance, and coordination readiness at every phase
- Lead electrical discipline coordination across all MEP trades - running Navisworks clash detection sessions, issuing and tracking RFIs, and driving resolution with engineers, contractors, and site teams
- Model complex electrical systems in full detail: HV/MV distribution, generator and UPS configurations, switchgear rooms, PDU layouts, busway routing, and structured low-voltage pathways
- Develop and enforce project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), ensuring consistent adherence to company and owner BIM standards across all active projects
- Collaborate with engineers of record, electrical subcontractors, and procurement teams to validate fabrication-ready models, support prefabrication packages, and assist with shop drawing review
- Support construction sequencing through 4D model integration, linking electrical installation phases to master schedules and critical infrastructure energization milestones
- Conduct periodic site visits to validate model accuracy against installed conditions, support commissioning coordination, and capture as-built deviations for record model updates
- Mentor junior BIM coordinators and provide technical guidance on electrical modeling standards, tool usage, and coordination best practices across the team
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience in a BIM coordination role
- 4+ years of BIM coordination experience, with a substantial portion dedicated to electrical systems on large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects. Candidates without data center or critical infrastructure experience will not be considered
- Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP and Navisworks Manage; strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360
- Deep technical knowledge of data center electrical infrastructure: primary and secondary power distribution, generator paralleling switchgear, UPS topology, PDU and RPP layouts, busway systems, and low-voltage infrastructure
- Working familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier I–IV design standards and their implications on electrical redundancy, separation, and spatial planning
- Solid understanding of the full electrical construction document package: one-lines, panel schedules, riser diagrams, equipment specifications, and NEC code compliance as it applies to modeled systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active coordination workstreams simultaneously in a remote environment, with strong discipline around version control, file management, and asynchronous communication
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically to active project sites across the US for coordination milestones, site validation, and commissioning support
- Autodesk Certified Professional (Revit MEP) or equivalent certification preferred; BIM Manager or VDC Lead experience is a strong plus
