Summary:

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts)Department of Dance + Choreography is recruiting a pool ofapplicants on an ongoing basis for possible adjunct teachingpositions. TheDepartment of Dance + Choreography will consult the adjunctapplicant pool and contact qualified applicants whose credentialsmatch our specific teaching needs on an as-needed basis. This poolwill only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises.

Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s)in any of the areas of study offered by the Department of Dance +Choreography. Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for theDepartment of Dance + Choreography and have a desire to work with astudent population from all backgrounds and experiences in acollaborative and learning-centered community of other adjunctinstructors, students, faculty and staff.

Required Qualifications

• Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentationand communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas ofexpertise in Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Yoga, Screen Dance,Composition, Choreography and other relevant areas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Dance, Choreography, or a related field, orBFA with equivalent professional experience and training thatequates to a terminal degree in the field.
• Willingness to teach in both in-person and online formats.
• Willingness to recruit as needed, assist with semesterlyassessments, and help support the Dance and Choreographydepartment’s vision and student growth.
