Job summary

Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) within the Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking team members for a customer-focused retail role that supports Veterans and their families. As a cashier and sales associate you will assist customers, conduct transactions with accuracy, restock shelves, and keep the store clean and organized.

A current REAL ID is required to work, and prior experience in retail is preferred. This position offers steady work and a mission-driven workplace.

Qualifications

• Current valid REAL ID is required to work at Veterans Canteen Service.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and frequently bend.
• Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
• One year of experience in the service industry is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with retail software and point-of-sale systems is a plus.

• Assists customer in locating products & provides detailed information to enhance their shopping experience
• Handles sales transactions efficiently using a cash register - ensuring accuracy & customer satisfaction
• Restocks merchandise and ensures products are properly labeled for display

• Performs other duties as assigned.
