Job summary

Pacific Seafood is seeking a VCQ Technician in Seward, Alaska. This full-time role supports the Value Creation and Quality team, focusing on quality assurance, process improvements, and cross-department communication.

The candidate will perform inspections and document quality checks throughout production. Requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of related experience, and availability for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one year related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Be available nights and weekends as needed.
  • Preferred: QA experience in food industry; HACCP, GFSI, SSOP and COOL Act knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance and Improvement: conduct inspections, identify defects, and communicate with operations and sales to meet quality standards.
  • Documentation and Compliance: prepare reports, document quality checks, maintain HACCP/SSOP/Quality records.

Compensation: $19.00 - $22.00 / hour

The Value Creation and Quality Technician I at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Value Creation and Quality team supporting efforts to maintain quality standards. This position involves communicating between various departments regularly and implementing plans for continued improvement and is ideal for someone who is proactive, analytical, and flexible.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Quality Assurance and Improvement:
    • Conduct Food Safety and Quality inspection or tasks for specific process.
    • Perform regularly scheduled inspections.
    • Identify and report on critical quality defects on production processes and products.
    • Follow project zero product defect’s objective/philosophy.
    • Communicate with operations and sales teams in meeting quality standards and labeling requirements.
    • Participate and assist in plant quality activities.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and constantly look for opportunities for improvement.
    • Responsible for achievement of quality department goals and objectives.
  2. Documentation and Compliance:
    • Prepare and submit reports as required.
    • Conduct Food Safety and Quality inspection or tasks for specific process.
    • Document quality checks of product through the entire process.
    • Maintain records for HACCP, SSOP and Quality Standards.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.

Education and Experience
  • Required
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Minimum one-year related experience and/or training.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Be available nights and weekends as needed.
  • Preferred
    • Previous quality assurance experience in the food industry.
    • Knowledge of HACCP, GFSI, SSOP and COOL Act.
    • Knowledge of Word and Excel.
