Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks a Designer II to create visually compelling 3D and 2D graphics for control projects. You will contribute through CAD design within the product engineering and design team, enhancing existing designs and developing new solutions for our commercial and field offerings.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree in Drafting & Design Technology (or 5+ years CAD experience) and proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, CAD, AutoCAD or ProEngineer.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or high school diploma with CAD experience as required.
• Experience using SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, AutoCAD or ProEngineer.
• At least 2 years CAD experience or 5 years CAD in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Produces designs and documentation using CAD systems and PLM tools.
• Documents parts and bills of materials (BOM).
• Develops knowledge of design standards and processes.
• Works from oral instructions, schematics, drawings and sketches.
• Leads small project segments and ensures on-time completion.
• Maintains CAD systems competency through training.
• Stays customer-driven, innovative, and quality-minded.
• Develops communication skills and adheres to safety policies.
• May travel to various locations to support products or train personnel.
• Receives guidance from engineers and senior staff for work direction.

This Designer II plays a pivotal role in creating visually stunning 3D and 2D graphics for control projects submitted by our Commercial Sales & Service Offices. By leveraging their expertise in digital tools, they help bring our projects to life! While being part of product engineering and design team the opportunity to enhance existing designs and work to develop new design solutions for our product offerings.

What You Will Do:

• Produces designs and documentation utilizing computer design and product life cycle management systems.
• Documentation of parts and bills of materials
• Develop a good working knowledge and familiarity of design and drafting standard practices, methods and processes
• Work from oral engineering instructions or written procedures, schematics, drawings and sketches.
• Ability to lead small segments of large projects with responsibility for completion of assignments. Exercise sound judgment in recognition of potential design problems. Detects and corrects own errors.
• Maintains competency level of computer aided graphic system and other applications through company provided training and materials.
• Must be customer driven, innovative and quality minded in performance of all assigned duties.
• Develop and exercise good communication skills.
• Maintains awareness and adheres to all company safety and security policies and procedures.
• May be required to travel to various locations to support products or train other personnel.
• Receives generalized information and instruction pertaining to assignment from engineers or senior staff. Work direction, content and accuracy reviewed by engineers or senior department members.

What You Will Bring:

• Associate’s Degree (AAS) in Drafting & Design Technology (or related discipline) and at least 2-years of work experience using computer-aided graphic solutions is required.

- OR -

• High School Diploma and at least 5-years of work experience using computer-aided graphic solutions is required.
• Experience in SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, CAD, AutoCAD or ProEngineer
