Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Dallas seeks a Vascular Technician to operate ultrasound equipment and record vascular information including blood flow, pressures, and oxygen saturation.

You will perform peripheral, abdominal, cerebrovascular, and transcranial studies and support pre- and post-operative evaluation. This role requires knowledge of basic medical terminology, ability to learn equipment, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to learn and operate ultrasound equipment.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • No specific educational requirements; substitution rules apply at lower levels.
  • Desirable certification such as RVT/ARDMS.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs full range of vascular ultrasound procedures.
  • Conducts intracranial vascular imaging and complex studies.
  • Assesses blood flow, pressures, and oxygen saturation.
  • Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions.
  • Schedules patients and maintains records.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance (JCAHO and related standards).
