Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Vascular Technician to perform diagnostic vascular exams under physician direction. The role is full-time at the Heart & Vascular Wheat Ridge location, with a Monday–Friday schedule and 40 hours per week.

The position requires ARDMS/CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography and BLS. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. The role emphasizes patient safety, education, and collaboration with the clinical team.

Qualifications

  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.
  • BLS certification for healthcare providers.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate technical competence for department protocols.
  • Prioritize and schedule exams coordinating with staff and patients.
  • Prepare for exams, educate patients, and perform ultrasound exams in a timely manner.
  • Communicate patient needs to physicians and caregivers during exams.
  • Return patient to room and ensure stability after exams.
  • Mentor caregivers and students on equipment and technique.
  • Document exam results and apply correct charge codes.
  • Maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies; coordinate repairs.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide education to caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.

As a Vascular Technician at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:

Essential Functions

  • Competency; Must demonstrate technical competence for performance protocols specific to the department.

  • Prioritize and schedule exams. Coordinate exams with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers and patients.

  • Prepare for the exam by following patient identification processes, educating patient and family on procedure, and transporting the patient. Perform ultrasound exams consistent with related protocols and in a timely manner. Ensure patient safety and comfort and achieve quality outcomes.

  • Throughout the exam, identify patient needs and appropriately communicate and coordinate patient care with physicians, other caregivers, patient, and family.

  • After the exam, return patient to room and ensure patient stability and safety.

  • Mentor caregivers and students on basic equipment use and procedural technique.

  • Appropriately document exam results and other needed information. Apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies.

  • Clean and maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies. Follow appropriate channels to coordinate repair or supply needs.

  • Support team and quality improvement processes and initiatives.

  • Participate in educational opportunities to ensure clinical competence and develop additional skills and knowledge. Provide education for other caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
