Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Somerset, NJ seeks a Vascular Technician to perform non-invasive vascular ultrasound exams and vascular testing, supporting the Echo / Vascular Lab team. The role is per diem, day shift, located at RWJUH Somerset with pay of $60.52 per hour.

Responsibilities include running tests, providing preliminary findings, and coordinating with physicians. Must hold RVT or RVS certification, ultrasound training, and complete orientation and compliance training.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal Ultrasound Training Program with previous experience in a Vascular Laboratory
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) status required
• A technologist may be hired as registry eligible; in such cases the candidate must sit for the registry exam within 6 months of hire and pass the exam within the first year of hire or be terminated
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
• Completion of all mandatory compliance training

• Perform all necessary test protocols on patients in the lab, at bedside, in the Emergency Room, Recovery Room or in the Operating Room as deemed necessary by physician
• Provide a preliminary report for all patients
• Contact attending/referring physician if a critical finding is obtained
• Performs ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm compression under the direct supervision of vascular surgeon
• Assists vascular surgeon in ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm injections
• Maintains Vascular Laboratory standards as set by ICAVL
• Other required responsibilities in order to maintain the standard of excellence of the Vascular Lab
• Is knowledgeable of, adheres to and promotes safe practices (such as LeapFrog, Never Events, National Patient Safety Goals)

Job Overview

A Vascular Technician is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations and physiological testing to evaluate patient circulatory systems, including operating diagnostic equipment and analyzing blood flow patterns.
