Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) operates one of the region’s highest‑volume stroke programs, caring for patients across 15 hospitals each year. The LVHN Region Stroke Network is anchored by a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) at the Cedar Crest campus and supported through telemedicine by six Primary Stroke Centers, three Neighborhood Hospitals, and two active Emergency Departments.
Advanced stroke care is centralized at our Cedar Crest site, where patients have access to the full spectrum of cerebrovascular services, including 24/7 advanced imaging, endovascular therapy, and neurovascular surgical expertise. Cedar Crest has been a Joint Commission–certified Comprehensive Stroke Center since 2012, one of the first three certified CSCs in the United States and establishing LVHN as a national leader in stroke systems of care.
Across the network, all stroke sites have been consistently recognized by the American Heart Association with Gold Plus and Target: Stroke awards, reflecting sustained excellence in rapid, evidence‑based stroke treatment.
To ensure timely access to advanced care, LVHN’s Transfer Center coordinates interfacility stroke transfers and is supported by dedicated critical care transport and aeromedical services, enabling rapid movement of high‑acuity patients to the Cedar Crest CSC.
