Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General is seeking a Cardiac Technician to join the team in a full-time, day shift role. The position involves assisting RNs in prep and recovery across Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiac OR, with patient transport and discharge support.

Responsibilities include monitoring, EKGs, sheath removals, and aiding patients with bedrest, lunch, and personal care. High school diploma required; prior patient-care or cardiac tech experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Experience in patient care, cardiac tech or healthcare tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prep and recover 20–30 patients daily in Cardiac Cath Lab, IR, and Cardiac OR.
• Settle patients postoperatively, connect monitors, and assist with care.
• Obtain EKGs or specimens as ordered.
• Remove arterial/venous sheaths from femoral, radial, and brachial sites.
• Assist patients on bedrest with meals, toileting, etc.
• Transport patients to inpatient rooms or assist in discharge.

Job description

Sentara Norfolk Generalis looking for a Cardiac Technician to join the team. Full time Day shift

(3) 12 shifts 7am-7pm

Cardiac Techs help aid the RNs throughout the prep and recovery of our Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiac OR patients. In our department we prep and recover 20 - 30 patients a day. In the recovery area, the cardiac techs are trained to settle patients in the room postoperatively (hooking to the monitor, cleaning, repositioning); obtain EKGs or any specimens ordered; remove arterial and venous sheaths from the femoral, radial and brachial sites; help patients that are on bedrest with eating, toileting, or any other request per the patient; and transporting patients to their inpatient room or assisting in the discharge process. This job does require the capabilities to lift, push, pull, and standing for long periods of time.

Education:

• High School degree or equivalent

Experience:

• patient care technician, cardiac tech, healthcare tech in similar setting experience preferred
