Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a registered nurse to provide comprehensive patient care with a family-centered focus in a day shift, onsite, full-time role.

The position requires independence, prioritization of patient and staff needs, and the ability to work on an on-call basis. Responsibilities include assessments, planning, implementing, evaluating, and direct nursing care for a group of patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• BLS certification required.
• PICC competency within 3 months of hire.
• PALS every year.
• Sedation education within 6 months of hire and maintained.
• 2 years of clinical nursing experience required, with at least 1 year of hands-on IV insertion experience.

Responsibilities

• Assessments must be completed according to policy/procedure
• Assess and reassess pain and effects of pain management techniques
• Assess and document the current status of the patient, their nursing care needs including biophysical, psycho-social, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge.
• Other duties as required.

Summary

Technical Expertise

Education and Experience

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.
• Certification: BLS, must complete hospital requirements for PICC competency within 3 months of hire. PALS every year and sedation education must be completed within 6 months of hire and maintained.
• Years of experience: 2 years of clinical nursing experience required, with at least 1 years of hands-on IV insertion experience required.
• Years of experience supervising: None
