Job summary

Sylvania in Flint, MI is seeking a basketball coach. The position requires coaching experience and the ability to instruct student-athletes in various group sizes. Candidates should be prepared to meet background check and fingerprinting requirements.

Candidates should be able to work cooperatively with administration and staff, communicate effectively with players and parents, and develop strategies to improve both individual and team play. A stipend is provided for the season.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at the high school level preferred.
• Alternate qualifications may be considered.
• Must meet requirements for background check and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Relate to and instruct student-athletes in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
• Develop and use strategies to improve individual and team play.
• Ability to work cooperatively with administration and staff.
• Ability to encourage student participation in basketball.
• Possess strong organizational, motivational, discipline, and fundamental teaching skills.
• Work with other coaches by supporting and encouraging students to participate in other sports.
• Able to communicate with players, parents, and other coaches.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
