Job summary

Newton Country Day School seeks a passionate and organized Varsity Ice Hockey Assistant Coach to work with the team during the 2026-2027 winter season. The coach will be responsible for helping plan practices, develop players, and build a competitive, inclusive team culture that reflects the mission of Sacred Heart education and Falcon Athletics, all on our home ice of Daly Rink in Newton.

Qualifications

• Assist with all aspects of Varsity Ice Hockey practices and games with a focus on fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship, in alignment with the program goals.
• Mentor student-athletes to develop courage, confidence, discipline, and growth.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and the Athletics Department.
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to drive school vehicles for practices and competitions.
• Uphold Sacred Heart education values and the Falcon Athletics mission, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
• Complete other related duties as requested by the Director of Athletics.

• Provide mentorship to student-athletes of varying skill levels, encouraging courage and confidence, discipline, and growth.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and the Athletics Department.
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to drive school vehicles for practices and competitions.
• Uphold and model the values of Sacred Heart education and the mission of Falcon Athletics, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes.
• Complete other related duties as requested by the Director of Athletics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience playing and coaching ice hockey.
• A passion for developing young women through sport.
• CPR/First Aid and SafeSport certifications (or willingness to complete prior to the season).
• CORI background check and fingerprinting required.
