Job summary

Webberville Middle & High School is seeking a dedicated Varsity Girls Track Coach for a part-time role. The coach will develop and lead the track and field program for our varsity girls, fostering a positive, competitive environment that emphasizes teamwork, sportspersonship, and personal growth.

The ideal candidate will plan practices, tailor training to athletes' needs, communicate clearly with students and families, and ensure safety and compliance with school policies.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in track and field or related sport.
• Strong knowledge of track and field techniques, training methods, and competition strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and competition schedules.
• First Aid and CPR certification required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe upon hiring.
• A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes, ensuring a balanced approach to athletics and education.
• Must pass a background check and meet all school district employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct daily track and field practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all athletes.
• Develop training programs tailored to the skill levels and needs of individual athletes, focusing on technique, strength, and endurance.
• Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and respect among team members, promoting good sportsmanship at all times.
• Coordinate and oversee the logistics of track meets, including travel arrangements, equipment management, and team communication.
• Collaborate with other coaching staff and school administration to align the track program with school goals and policies.
• Maintain clear communication with athletes, parents, and school officials regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance updates.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols, including adherence to the rules set forth by the governing athletic association.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and trends in track and field coaching.
