Job summary

The Prout School in Wakefield, Rhode Island, is seeking an Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach to support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes and maintaining high standards of teamwork, academics, and sportsmanship.

You will assist in planning practices, game preparation, and player development while upholding school values and safety protocols for a positive athletic experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in basketball playing or coaching is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department.
• Commitment to student-athlete development and academic balance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct practices to develop skills and teamwork.
• Assist in scouting, game planning, and postgame evaluation.
• Provide individualized instruction and mentorship to student-athletes.
• Promote accountability, discipline, and sportsmanship.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and meetings.
• Encourage balancing academics and athletics.
• Communicate professionally with coaches, AD, players and parents.
• Assist with equipment, attendance, travel arrangements, and team records.
• Follow RIIL regulations and safety protocols.
• Represent the school's mission with integrity and positive leadership.
