Job summary

MSD of New Durham Township is seeking a Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach to oversee and lead the high school soccer program. You will guide student-athletes in skill development, conditioning, and game strategy while promoting sportsmanship and academic success.

You will plan practices, run tryouts, manage team logistics, coordinate with staff, and mentor athletes on and off the field. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the sport, including rules, strategies, and techniques.

Position Summary:

The Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach is responsible for overseeing and leading the high school sports program, providing guidance and instruction to student-athletes, and fostering a positive and competitive team environment. The head coach is expected to promote skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success among team members.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement a comprehensive and age-appropriate training program to enhance the skills, physical conditioning, and tactical understanding of student-athletes.
2. Plan and conduct regular practice sessions, ensuring they are well-structured and focused on skill development, game strategies, and teamwork.
3. Organize and lead team tryouts, evaluating athletes' abilities and determining team rosters.
4. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, emphasizing respect, sportsmanship, discipline, and healthy competition.
5. Establish clear expectations and rules for team members regarding behavior, attendance, academic performance, and commitment to the team.
6. Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes, helping them improve their skills and reach their full potential.
7. Develop and implement game plans, making strategic decisions during competitions to maximize the team's chances of success.
8. Coordinate and communicate with assistant coaches, athletic department staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the sports program.
9. Promote the safety and welfare of student-athletes by adhering to all relevant health and safety guidelines and protocols.
10. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to monitor the academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes.
11. Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, both on and off the field, demonstrating good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and integrity.
12. Maintain accurate records of team performance, statistics, and other relevant information as required by the school and athletic department.
13. Assist student-athletes in the college recruiting process, providing guidance and support as needed.
14. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with coaching techniques, rule changes, and best practices in coaching.
