Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX is seeking a part-time Coach to support athletic programs for the 26-27 academic year. The role is 4-5 hours per week for 6-8 weeks, reporting to the Athletic Director.

Compensation is $20.00 per hour with a focus on developing student-athletes while balancing academics. Responsibilities include organizing practices, monitoring academic progress, and ensuring compliance with district policies.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years coaching experience
• Strong knowledge of sport rules and terminology
• Valid CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain certification within required timeframe

Responsibilities

• Organizing practices and games
• Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes
• Issuing and collecting uniforms
• Providing orientation of a sound program to student athletes
• Communicating with coaches and athletic director on progression of student athletes
• Prioritizing academics over athletics
• Being on time for events
• Training athletes to physical readiness
• Team-first mindset
• Staying with team until last athlete and guardians depart
• Collecting athlete documentation to remain in compliance with state and YES Prep policies
• Additional duties as assigned
