Job summary

Chadwick School on Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA seeks a Walk On Athletics Coach to support the high school sports program. The role focuses on mentoring, skill development, and team culture during practices and competitions.

Applicants should have experience coaching or playing competitive sports, solid leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to core values such as respect and integrity. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, hourly position with compensation of $21.00–$30.00 per hour

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication in English and strong organizational skills are required.
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience coaching high school athletes in the specific sport is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct regular practices focused on individual skill development.
• Teach and model the school’s core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, fairness, and compassion on and off the court.
• Assist with in-game management, statistical tracking, film review, and strategic adjustments during contests.
• Oversee the safety, supervision, and well-being of student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
• Communicate promptly and professionally with student-athletes, families, and athletic staff.
• Support lower-level teams (JV/Frosh-Soph) to ensure vertical alignment and cohesive skill progression.
• Assist in maintaining sports equipment, uniforms, and facility preparation.
• Demonstrate an ability to reflect on and participate in discussions around identity, race, and social justice as they relate to athletics.
