Job summary

Rydberg Technologies is seeking a Vapor Cell Technologist and Engineer to design, fabricate, and integrate vapor cells for quantum devices. You will work hands-on across glasswork, microfabrication, and instrumentation to meet rigorous specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing, fabricating, and working with precision glass and microfabricated vapor cells.
  • Proficiency in precision instrumentation, equipment design, and measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency in engineering design (SolidWorks) and simulation (Ansys).
  • Experience in Rydberg atom spectroscopy is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manufacture vapor cells optimized for applications and experiments.

As a Vapor Cell Technologist and Engineer at Rydberg Technologies, you will have a multifaceted hands-on role, involving the design, engineering, and manufacturing of vapor cells and development of associated technologies. Your expertise will be pivotal in advancing our research and creating cutting-edge quantum devices.

Responsibilities
  • Vapor Cell Design and Manufacturing:
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design vapor cells optimized for specific applications and experiments.
  • Fabricate vapor cells via various techniques including precision glass work and microfabrication, ensuring cells meet size, geometry, and performance specifications.
  • Utilized advanced materials and techniques for optimal cell quality and performance
  • Engineering and Instrumentation:
  • Design and build custom equipment and instrumentation for vapor cell fabrication, integration, and manufacturing.
  • Integrate vapor cells into complex optical, photonic, and electronic subsystems, experimental setups, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
  • Quality Control and Testing:
  • Conduct rigorous quality control tests, including leak testing, spectroscopic measurements, and performance evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize vapor cell performance as required.
  • Research and Development:
  • Collaborate closely with our interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to innovate and improve vapor cell technologies.
  • Participate in the design, execution, and analysis of devices and experiments involving vapor cells.
  • Maintenance and Calibration:
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of vapor cells and associated equipment to ensure reliability and precision.
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel involved in vapor cell-related activities, and compliance with safety protocols, especially when handling hazardous materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics, engineering, or a related field. Strong foundation in atomic and optical physics, material science, and engineering principles.
  • Prior experience in designing, fabricating, and working with precision glass and microfabricated vapor cells.
  • Proficiency in precision instrumentation, equipment design, and measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency in engineering design (Solidworks) and simulation (Ansys) software.
  • Experience in Rydberg atom spectroscopy a plus.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical capabilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work within multidisciplinary teams.
