Vallejo City Unified School District is seeking a Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA) Specialist to support classroom VAPA lessons and activities aligned with the California Arts Education Framework. The role involves creating engaging learning experiences, preparing materials, and organizing VAPA spaces, with travel between multiple school sites.

The ideal candidate will assist teachers with VAPA activities, bring expertise in arts disciplines, and participate in district professional development.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree or 48 semester units from an accredited institution or passing NCLB exam.

Responsibilities

• Supports implementation of Visual & Performing Arts lessons aligned with CA Arts Education Framework.
• Prepares materials and experiences to enrich project-based learning.
• Maintains organization of VAPA spaces and tracks inventory.
• Assists teachers to incorporate VAPA activities into instruction.
• Assists with VAPA programming based on personal expertise in visual and performing arts.
• Uses effective interpersonal communication with youth and adults.
• Keeps up to date on current technology relevant to the role.
• Participates in site and district professional development.
• Will be assigned to support multiple school sites and travel between them.
