Job summary

Center for Disability Services is seeking a Bus/Van Driver (Full-time) to provide safe transportation to individuals with developmental disabilities, operating vans and buses across city and highway routes. The role requires maintaining a courteous demeanor and strict adherence to traffic laws and center policies.

Applicants must have a NYS CDL with passenger endorsement and a minimum of five years driving experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow directions, communicate, perform simple math functions and knows basic weights and measures.

Responsibilities

• Operate safely and courteously a variety of vans and buses to transport individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Navigate city and highway traffic under various conditions while obeying all traffic laws and center policies.
• Provide transportation to program participants as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with participants and staff to ensure safe, comfortable rides.

• Provides transportation to individuals with developmental disabilities by operating safely and courteously, various types of vans and buses through heavy or light city and highway traffic, in all conditions and following all rules and regulations.


• Ability to follow directions, communicate, perform simple math functions and knows basic weights and measures.


• Valid NYS Commercial Driving License A, B, or C with passenger endorsement in good standing required (B & C preferred).


• At least 5 years of active driving experience required.


• Must be 21 years old and be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds.


• Must be available to work in Albany and Niskayuna locations.


• Will consider paid CDL training for qualified applicants.


• Compensation Range: $23.00 - $23.00
