Job summary

Pawnee Mental Health is seeking a dedicated Transport Operator to provide safe and reliable transportation for agency clients and the public in Concordia, Kansas. You will assist riders with boarding, plan efficient routes, and perform routine vehicle maintenance to ensure safety and reliability.

The role requires a valid Kansas driver’s license with insurance, 4+ years of independent driving, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Valid Kansas driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
  • 4+ years of independent driving experience
  • Oral and written communication in English

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation to clients and the general public as requested.
  • Assist riders entering and exiting the vehicle and operate wheelchair lift when necessary.
  • Plan routes to use time and equipment as efficiently as possible.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles; document results.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness as time permits and document vehicle usage in trip logs daily.
  • Stay current with position-related knowledge through training and materials as approved by supervisor.
  • Adhere to Pawnee Mental Health policies, procedures, and ethical codes; comply with the Employee Handbook.
  • Assist Transportation Team Leader with basic vehicle maintenance to ensure safety and mechanical soundness.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Provide safe and reliable transportation to Agency clients and the general public as requested. Ensure passengers observe safety procedures.
  2. Provide assistance to riders entering and exiting the vehicle; operate wheelchair lift when necessary.
  3. Plan route to ensure the most economical use of time and equipment.
  4. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. Document results to assist with lifecycle management of the fleet.
  5. Clean equipment as time permits.
  6. Document vehicle usage on trip log daily.
  7. Maintain and advance knowledge and skills related specifically to position or to field of work through regular review of pertinent materials or participation in training events as approved by supervisor.
  8. Adhere to the standards, policies and instructions established by PMHS Policy and Procedure and any applicable ethical codes within field of employment.
  9. Review and comply with the Pawnee Code of Conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.

10. Assist the Transportation Team Leader with the basic vehicle maintenance to ensure vehicles are mechanically sound and can be operated in a safe manner.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Valid Kansas Driver’s License and automobile liability insurance maintained in accordance with Pawnee policy and procedure.
  • 4+ years of independent driving experience.
  • Oral and written communication skills using the English language.
Preferred:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Public transportation experience.
