Responsibilities
  • Drive a van/bus over an assigned route in accordance with the time schedule.
  • Transport clients/consumers to designated programs.
  • Adhere to Division Policy and Procedures and maintain discipline on the van/bus.
  • Perform a daily van/bus inspection, complete daily vehicle condition report, prepare daily reports of mileage, record cash receipts, time and client/consumer loads.
  • Maintain van/bus cleanliness, interior and exterior, and fluids levels on a daily basis.
  • Make pre‑trip inspection of vehicle in compliance with state regulations.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
  • Comply with local traffic regulations.
  • Report delays or accidents.
  • Carry out proscribed seating arrangements, if applicable.
  • Perform other duties as may be from time to time deemed appropriate by the PCS‑Supervisor and as required for provision of program services.
  • Maintain established division policies & procedures, objective, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Guard the confidentiality of client information from non‑authorized parties and Archway Programs employees.
  • Provide customer service with respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness; respond in a timely, professional, caring and respectful manner in accordance with Archway Programs standards.
  • Provide culturally sensitive services based on knowledge of cultural diversity to accomplish quality client care.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid NJ Driver's License.
  • 5 years of driving experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the care, maintenance, competent, safe and efficient operation of vehicles including cleaning, lubrication, servicing of batteries, and care of tires, and of minor repair procedures.
  • Knowledge of State Motor Vehicle regulations.
  • Knowledge of reading maps, designing & following routes, understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of the program and agencies objectives, purpose, policies, standards and procedures involved in the psychiatric care of individuals after a period of training.
  • Knowledge of basic medications administered and side effects after training.
  • Ability to keep essential records and files.
  • Ability to observe individuals unusual behavior and record and communicate these observations.
  • Ability to identify and understand the manifestation of common consumer diagnoses.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a supportive, positive therapeutic relationship with individuals.
  • Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the organization.
  • Demonstrates professionalism at all times. Display empathy and positive regard for others in written, verbal and non‑verbal communications. Work effectively with a team of colleagues and consumers by practicing punctuality, respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication. Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, maturity and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize duties / tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Must complete and pass required training within 45 days of hire.
  • Ability to be trained and maintain certification in CPI, PRT and CPR/FA as needed by program element.
  • Ability to sufficiently perform the duties of this position.
  • Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age and have a current valid driver's license to operate the transportation vehicle to which you are assigned.
  • Motor vehicle record must be clear in accordance with Archway Programs insurance carrier guidelines.
  • Must pass ten‑panel drug screen at time of hire and randomly thereafter.
  • Must consent to an initial and annual criminal background check. The following will preclude a driver or attendant from providing services under this Agreement: (1) conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance within the previous three (3) years; (2) plea of guilty or nolo contendere or conviction for any felony that is sexual in nature or involves a child, the elderly, domestic abuse, drugs, weapons or violence in the previous seven (7) years.
