Job summary

ASRC Energy Services, LLC is seeking a Valve Maintenance Technician for the Kuparuk Maintenance Group. The role installs, repairs, and tests valves, reads gauges, and ensures safe operation in an Arctic oil-and-gas setting.

Applicants must hold a valid Alaska-class CDL, a current DOT Medical Card, NSTC safety certification, a High School diploma, and be authorized to work in the U.S. Expect 80.5–84 hours weekly in a 2x2 or 3x3 rotation.

JOB SUMMARY

The Valve Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining valves. This position checks pressure gauges and performs tests to ensure proper operation of valves.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Must understand the prioritization of safety, quality, and production, and be willing to work accordingly.

A successful candidate for this position must have familiarity with the various types of valves used in Alpine, including gate valves, ball valves, plug valves, mechanically actuated valves, check valves and choke valves, in addition to understanding the wellhead piping itself.

Candidate must understand that sealants, greases, and injectable packings are required for each valve.

Candidate must be able to recognize damaged or faulty wellhead and facility valves.

Must be competent to recognize and deal with any leak or malfunction that they may encounter.

Must be knowledgeable and skilled at hydro testing repaired, rebuilt, or third party valves and must be able to read and interpret graphs and charts required under API/ANSI and state codes.

Ability to read and comprehend Alaska Safety Handbook, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Understanding of work permit system relating to job duties.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to calculate craft-related formulas with respect to bolting up and hydrotesting (material quantities, volumes, pressures, etc.).

Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

A valid (U.S issued, Alaska compliant) Class A or B CDL is required.

A current DOT Medical Card is required.

A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.

The ability to work 80.5 - 84 hours a week on a 2x2 or 3x3 rotation is required.

At least three (3) years of experience as a Valve Maintenance Technician in the Oil and Gas industry or in an Arctic environment is required.

Employees in this position will be required to comply with the requirements of D.O.T. regulation 49 CFR, Part 199, section 195.50. The requirements of 29 CFR with regard to Process Safety Management must also be met by employees in this position.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Five (5) or more years of experience working as a Valve Maintenance Technician specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you.All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift.Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
