Job summary

John H. Carter Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled valve technician to perform disassembly and assembly of control valves and regulators. You will read customer data sheets, follow repair orders, and safely handle various valve types and actuators while ensuring quality and compliance.

Responsibilities include calibration of positioners and controllers, setup of stem packing, and thorough testing per codes. Travel across the Gulf Coast region and adherence to safety procedures are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years in valve repair industry preferred.
• Read and understand customer data sheets and specifications.
• Basic knowledge of industrial regulators.
• Ability to read and record measurements with standard tools.
• TWIC, OSHA Safety, Security Passport required.
• Valid State issued driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and assemble control valves and regulators according to instructions and data sheets.
• Safely disassemble various valve types (sliding stem, ball, butterfly, gate, globe, check).
• Safely disassemble actuators and various types (pneumatic and spring/diaphragm).
• Inspect parts and maintain material awareness; perform chemical solvent cleaning when needed.
• Complete quality control sheets with date, sign-off and status.
• Perform machining processes using drill press and hand grinder; assemble and calibrate positioners/controllers.
• Install stems, attach actuators, set travel and bench set on actuators; tube up positioners/controllers.
• Test valves per applicable codes using compressed air, water, nitrogen; document test reports.
• Travel as needed within Gulf Coast region; uphold JHC Total Customer Commitment.
