The Value Stream Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring end-to-end quality performance across an aerospace manufacturing value stream. This position focuses on suppliers, manufacturing operations, finished products, and customer quality requirements, using data-driven methods, auditing, risk assessment, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving to identify issues and drive sustainable improvements. The role offers the opportunity to own quality performance across a broad portfolio of electronic, avionic, and electro-mechanical aerospace products and to contribute directly to continuous improvement initiatives that impact civil and military aviation applications.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure products and manufacturing processes comply with established procedures and meet customer quality requirements across the entire value stream.
  • Perform product and process audits to verify compliance with controlled manufacturing procedures and to uncover opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and support risk assessments across the product value stream, including suppliers, manufacturing operations, and finished products.
  • Identify potential quality risks and collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement appropriate risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing and quality using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar structured improvement methodologies.
  • Develop, track, and maintain quality metrics, reports, and performance trends that clearly communicate quality status and priorities.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and quality data to identify performance trends, areas of concern, and focus areas for improvement efforts.
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis for product and process quality issues, ensuring sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, operations, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives through structured problem-solving, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Champion Lean and Six Sigma methodologies throughout the value stream to enhance efficiency, reduce defects, and improve overall quality.
  • Support supplier quality activities by engaging with suppliers on quality expectations, audits, and improvement efforts.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of aerospace quality systems and manufacturing documentation as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Professional experience supporting quality within manufacturing, product, and/or supply-chain environments.
  • Experience conducting product and/or process audits within controlled manufacturing procedures and customer requirements.
  • Hands-on root cause analysis and structured problem-solving experience, with the ability to take ownership of quality issues.
  • Ability to interpret and use quality data, metrics, and statistical trends to identify performance issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality functions in a collaborative manner.
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles and their application to continuous improvement and risk reduction.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings, recommendations, and improvement plans to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset toward identifying risk and improvement opportunities.
  • Understanding of manufacturing quality from an end-to-end perspective, including suppliers, in-process operations, and customer requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with risk-management tools and methodologies used in manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Experience supporting supplier quality, including engagement on quality requirements, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality systems, standards, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience in value stream mapping, quality control, quality assurance, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Interest in solving complex quality and manufacturing problems and driving measurable continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a role with direct visibility and impact across the entire product value stream.
Work Environment

This position is based in an on-site aerospace manufacturing environment in Creedmoor, NC. The facility is approximately 100,000 square feet and supports electronic, avionic, and electro-mechanical manufacturing, including an on-site machine shop, a Materials & Process Laboratory, and a NADCAP-certified paint facility. Products manufactured at the site include actuators, transducers, tachometers, wiper systems, fire-protection systems, data recorders, compass calibrators, and flight-deck instrumentation used in both civil and military aviation.
