Job Details

Job Location: Valparaiso Club - Valparaiso, IN 46383

Salary Range: $13.00 - $15.00

Typical Hours: Part-time up to 29 hours a week during the school year: 7am to Noon, Monday through Friday, with additional hours Friday evening or Saturday morning as needed for rentals. Summer hours will vary.

Location: 708 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso, IN 46383

Hourly Rate: $13 to $15

Responsibilities
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on all equipment necessary.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
  • Clean, mop, wash, scrub, wax, polish, buff, and vacuum floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
  • Empty trash receptacles.
  • Clean and polish fixtures.
  • Remove recycling materials.
  • Manage inventory of supplies necessary to perform job.
  • Use ladders to dust and wash walls, clean ceilings and windows, and dust and polish light fixtures.
  • Clean windows.
  • Dust furniture.
  • Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas as well as during office moves and events.
  • Remove stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, hazards or unsafe conditions and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Attend all staff/agency meetings, as required.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to comprehend, retain and follow oral and written instructions; exercise good judgment, set priorities, listen, problem solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to operate and maintain specialty cleaning equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively interact with staff, members, parents, visitors, vendors, etc.
  • Must be able to work with limited to no supervision.
  • Clean experience preferred.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, and moving machinery and hazardous chemicals. The noise level is moderate to high. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to lift/push up to 50 pounds.
